Terms of Service
Welcome to GetALife ("the App"), a personal finance and budgeting application operated by GetALife by Michael Hofmann ("we", "us", "our"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using GetALife, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
2. Description of Service
GetALife is a personal finance application that provides:
- Bank account synchronization via Tink (open banking)
- Manual transaction tracking and categorization
- Budget creation and management
- Financial analytics, runway calculations, and reporting
- Multi-currency support
The App is available on iOS and Android platforms.
3. Account Registration
To use the App, you must create an account using Firebase Authentication. By registering, you represent that:
- You are at least 16 years of age.
- The information you provide is accurate and complete.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
- You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account.
You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
4. Subscription Terms
GetALife offers a free tier with limited features and a premium subscription with full access.
- Subscription options: Monthly and annual plans are available.
- Auto-renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
- Payment: All payments are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, depending on your platform. Prices are displayed in your local currency within the respective store.
- Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple App Store or Google Play Store account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
- Refunds: We do not provide refunds for any partial subscription period. Refund requests are subject to the policies of the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and applicable law.
- Price changes: We may change subscription prices at any time. You will be notified in advance of any price increase, and the new price will apply from your next renewal period.
5. Banking Data
GetALife integrates with Tink, a licensed open banking provider, to securely connect to your bank accounts. Regarding your banking data:
- GetALife does not store your bank login credentials. Authentication is handled entirely by Tink.
- All banking data is encrypted in transit using industry-standard encryption protocols.
- You may disconnect your bank accounts at any time through the App settings.
- We access only the financial data necessary to provide the App's features (account balances, transactions).
6. Intellectual Property
All content, features, functionality, design, graphics, trademarks, and other intellectual property within the App are owned by GetALife by Michael Hofmann and are protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from any part of the App without our prior written consent.
7. User Responsibilities
When using GetALife, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and truthful financial data when entering transactions manually.
- Use the App solely for personal, non-commercial purposes.
- Not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App.
- Not use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws.
- Not interfere with or disrupt the App's servers or infrastructure.
- Not attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the App or its systems.
8. Financial Disclaimer
GetALife is not a financial advisory service. The App provides tools for tracking and organizing your personal finances. It does not provide financial advice, investment recommendations, tax guidance, or any other form of professional financial counsel.
You are solely responsible for your own financial decisions. Any projections, analytics, or insights provided by the App are for informational purposes only and should not be relied upon as a basis for financial decisions. We strongly recommend consulting a qualified financial advisor for personalized financial guidance.
9. Limitation of Liability
The App is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.
- We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of financial data displayed in the App, including data obtained through bank synchronization.
- We are not liable for any financial losses, damages, or decisions resulting from the use of the App.
- We are not responsible for downtime, interruptions, or errors in the App or third-party services (including Tink).
- To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the 12 months preceding the claim.
10. Termination
Either party may terminate this agreement at any time:
- By you: You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time.
- By us: We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or engage in conduct that we determine to be harmful to the App, other users, or GetALife by Michael Hofmann.
Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately. You may request deletion of your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection laws.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Austria, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the use of the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in Austria.
If you are a consumer within the European Union, you also enjoy the protection of mandatory provisions of the consumer protection laws of your country of residence. Additionally, you may use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or via email. The updated Terms will include a new "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after such changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
